Event Description
Columnist & author Steve Fagin will speak at Groton Long Point's Clark Hall at 6:30 pm Wednesday April 16th, about his adventures on land and sea. Steve, whose award-winning Great Outdoors column appears every week in The Day newspaper, is also author of AMC’s Best Day Hikes in Connecticut & Rhode Island, a 350 page guidebook published by the Appalachian Mountain Club.
The illustrated talk will feature photos from the book of his favorite trails, as well as pictures of kayak adventures near and far. In addition to scaling 67 mountains in New England that are taller than 4,000 feet, Steve has climbed the Himalayas, Andes and Alps; has run the Boston Marathon 11 times; and kayaked most of the major rivers and lakes in the Northeast.
Steve is also author of the book Treasures of Southeastern Connecticut, and serves as book editor or Appalachia, the nation’s longest running journal of mountaineering and conservation. His articles have been published in The New York Times, Runner’s World magazine, The World Book Encyclopedia, and other publications. He will be available to sign copies of his new guidebook.
Steve lives in Ledyard with his wife, author Lisa Brownell.
